Why do HipoBuy buyers get surprise freight bills?

Agents generally sell you the item first and price international shipping later, once the parcel is packed and weighed. That's normal. What makes HipoBuy stand out, in KakoGuide's review, is how far the final bill can drift from what buyers expected — reports of an extra $130 and even $400 "demanded for freight after purchase" — combined with two other habits: HipoBuy isn't covered by JadeShip's calculator, so there's no independent way to check its rates, and refunds go to your HipoBuy wallet rather than back to your card or PayPal.

1. Get a written quote before you buy heavy items. Message support with the item list and estimated weight and ask for the line and total.
2. Start light. Tees, accessories and small items keep a first parcel's weight — and risk — low.
3. Ask about box removal on shoes and anything bulky; volumetric weight is the usual culprit.
4. Don't top up the wallet in advance. If refunds come back as wallet credit, the less money parked there the better.

Verdict: HipoBuy's speed is real, but so is the freight risk. Never approve a parcel without a total you've seen in writing.

How fast is HipoBuy, really?

This is HipoBuy's selling point, and the reviews back it up. On Trustpilot, positive reviews repeatedly mention fast delivery — 4–7 days in several accounts — along with multiple affordable shipping routes, detailed QC photos and an easy app. KakoGuide notes HipoBuy's own claim of "as fast as 5 days" and says EU deliveries under 10 days are common.

The same reviews show the other end: some parcels took 56 days or more, with tracking that goes "silent for days" and slow answers about lost parcels. Speed on the best routes doesn't mean every route is fast, so pick the line deliberately rather than taking the default.

HipoBuy's 7-day QC window

When an item reaches HipoBuy's warehouse, you get QC photos and, according to KakoGuide, a 7-day window to approve or ask for a return or exchange. Seven days is shorter than it sounds if you're travelling or the notification lands in spam. Returns and exchanges also depend on the seller agreeing, and sellers are less willing the longer an item has sat in a warehouse, so a missed QC deadline usually means you keep whatever arrived.

Turn on app notifications, check photos the day they arrive, and if you want a specific close-up — a logo, a label, a sole edge — ask for it straight away rather than on day six.

What HipoBuy's reviews can and can't tell you

Trustpilot shows HipoBuy's rating as unavailable "due to a breach of our guidelines" and says it removed a number of reviews it judged not genuine. The 734 reviews still visible are 76% five-star and 17% one-star, and 706 of them were posted in the past year — almost the whole history of a company that only registered its domain in March 2025.

Read that as "young and loud" rather than "proven". The positive reviews are consistent about speed and the app; the negative ones are consistent about freight, slow support and lost-parcel communication. Both patterns are likely real.

Verdict: HipoBuy suits a buyer who values speed and will insist on a written freight quote. Cautious first-timers are better served by an older agent.

HipoBuy is not HooBuy

Google's suggestions for "hipobuy" mix in "hoobuy" and "hoobuy spreadsheet", and the two names are easy to confuse. They are separate agents with separate websites and accounts. HooBuy has traded since 2024, sends six free QC photos per item and holds a 3.8/5 Trustpilot score; HipoBuy registered its domain in March 2025, sells itself on speed and has no Trustpilot score at present. A spreadsheet labelled for one won't log you into the other, although the product links inside either will work with both once you extract the original listing.
